Robert Smith? has the dubious distinction of being the world’s foremost expert on the spread and transmission of ‘Bieber Fever’, but don’t hate him for it. Oh yeah, and he accidentally invented the academic sub-discipline of mathematical modelling of zombies, thanks to a 2009 academic paper on the subject that became world famous.
He co-wrote Who Is The Doctor: The Unofficial Guide to Doctor Who – The New Series (ECW Press, 2012), which won the Silver Award for the Pop Culture section of the 2013 Independent Publishers Book Award, and the forthcoming Who’s 50: The Fifty Doctor Who Stories to Watch Before You Die (ECW Press, October 2013). He also co-edited an anthology of fan writing on the Classic and New Series, Time Unincorporated (Mad Norwegian Press) and single-handedly edited Outside In: 160 New Perspectives on 160 Classic Doctor Who Stories by 160 Writers for ATB Publishing.
He wrote Braaaiiinnnsss!: From Academics to Zombies for The University of Ottawa Press (the definitive showcase of what academics actually do, as viewed through the lens of a zombie invasion); as well as Modelling Disease Ecology with Mathematics for the American Institute of Mathematical Sciences.
The last one’s probably the scariest reading for most of you.
